Due to an increase in COVID-19 cases in Johnson and Cedar Counties, Iowa, the National Archives and Records Administration has closed the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum in West Branch beginning Monday, August 23, 2021. We are making every effort to continue providing essential services and respond to inquiries at hoover.library@nara.gov. Planning Your Visit

Your group will only have start times scheduled for the Museum (one hour) and the Historic Site (one hour). You may schedule any of the following activities at your leisure:

  • Biography of Herbert Hoover, a 22 minute film that runs on the hour, every hour
  • Tour of the temporary exhibits in the Museum
  • Visit to the grave-site of Herbert and Lou Hoover
  • Visit to the Museum Gift Shop
  • Lunch in a picnic shelter
  • Self-guided tour of the Prairie Walk

*Additional visitors must pay general admission. This does not include admission to public programs or special events. Free admission is only valid at the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library-Museum with school identification. Valid for Iowa teachers and teachers from Illinois who have scheduled school tours.
