Coming Special Exhibit

A Journey Through Europe on the Eve of War, a new temporary exhibit, reflects Herbert Hoover's 1938 tour of Europe in the Quarton Gallery. He traveled to 12 European countries to accept humanitarian honors, commemorate post-World War I relief efforts and meet with political leaders. His travels included a meeting with Adolf Hitler in Germany, offering a fascinating window into Hoover’s experiences in Europe at a pivotal moment before World War II.

Through historical photographs, correspondence, souvenirs and gifts collected during the journey, visitors can follow Hoover’s travels and gain new insight into his international relationships, humanitarian legacy and continuing influence years after leaving the White House.

The exhibit opens to the public October 24, 2026.
