BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Ethel Grace Rensch was a first cousin of Herbert Hoover. She was married to Hero Rensch.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This is a collection of genealogical materials about the Hoover and Minthorn families. The research was done at the request of Theodore Hoover and was the basis for the book Genealogy of the Herbert Hoover Family, compiled by Hulda Hoover McLean.
It contains correspondence with relatives, genealogists, historical societies and libraries. It also includes family recollections, research notes, compilations, charts, and lists. The recollections of Ann Minthorn Heald, Herbert Hoover's aunt, describe her childhood, the Minthorn family, life in Canada, the journey to Iowa, and their life in West Branch. These recollections cover the period 1842 to 1875.
