The Walter H. Newton Collection contains correspondence and photographs with or about Herbert Hoover, 1927‑1942; newspaper clippings concerning Newton, 1910‑1941; Medicine Ball poems and photos; and Newton Representative Campaign material, 1920‑1924.

According to an article about the 1929 White House fire on Christmas Eve, the personal files of Secretary Newton, many of which he accumulated during his service in Congress as a Representative from Minnesota were ruined.
