Manuscript Collections - Fred Lyman Adair Papers
FRED LYMAN ADAIR PAPERS, 1905-1966 BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE Fred Adair was an obstetrician who served with the American Red Cross in France and Belgium in 1918 and 1919. He was born in 1877 in Anamosa, Iowa. His father, Lyman Joseph Adair, was the local doctor. Adair married Myrtle May Ingalls and later served on the Chicago chapter of the America First Committee. SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE The collection contains articles, correspondence, reports, maps, photographs, medical logs and the manuscript of Adair’s autobiography which also contains the story of his father’s life. Evidently the manuscript was published in 1968 as The Country Doctor and the Specialist.
