SETH W. RICHARDSON PAPERS, 1900–1953 BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE Seth Whitley Richardson was born February 4, 1880 in Otterville, Iowa. He was educated at Hamlin University and the University of Wisconsin. He married Nina Baker August 30, 1919. Richardson served as Assistant State Attorney of North Dakota from 1904 to 1908, and Assistant Attorney General 1919-1920. In 1923 he was appointed by Warren Harding as US District Attorney, and was named Assistant Attorney General of the United States by Herbert Hoover. Richardson served as Chief Council for the Congressional Committee Investigating the Pearl Harbor Bombing in 1946. President Truman appointed him as Chairman of the Loyalty Board, where he served until retirement in 1951. Richardson passed away March 17, 1953. The collection consists of writings, correspondence, newspaper clippings and photographs documenting Richardson’s personal life, military service in WW I, and his work as Chair of the Loyalty Board.
