LYNNE C. QUIGGLE SCRAPBOOKS, 1930-1958 BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE Lynn Cline Quiggle was a US Navy officer from 1930 until his death in 1958. As Executive Officer of the destroyer Aaron Ward he was involved in the transfer of American destroyers to Great Britain in exchange for naval bases in 1940. Quiggle received a Bronze Star while serving on the battleship Iowa. As Pacific Fleet Readiness Officer at Pearl Harbor he helped plan and was present at the 1946 atomic bomb tests at Bikini Atoll. Quiggle also served: with the Strategic Plans Division of the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations; on the staff of the commander in Chief, Allied Forces Southern Europe at Naples, Italy; Chief of Staff of the United Nations component of the Military Armistice Commission in Korea, and Deputy Chief of Staff of the United Nations Far East Command in Japan. SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE The collection consists of five scrapbooks and four folders of items that were tucked into the scrapbooks that document Lynne Quiggle’s naval career. Materials include: photographs, letters, telegrams, and ephemera. Scrapbook volume four was not included in the donation, its whereabouts are unknown.
