BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

William T. Golden was born October 25, 1909. He worked with Lewis Strauss in the Atomic Energy Commission and advised President Truman to create a position of science adviser to the President. Truman did so in 1951. Golden died on October 7, 2007.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The papers contain materials gathered to make the case of having a science advisor to the President. Golden called it “Government Military-Scientific Research: Review for the President of the United States.” Also included are articles compiled by Golden in 1988. Arranged alphabetically by subject.
