Revolutionary Leader

General Washington appeared before the Continental Congress in 1783 to formally render his resignation as Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army. Only 20 delegates representing seven states were even present at this historic occasion, an event that historians consider one of the most revolutionary moments in U.S. history. The most powerful and revered man in America simply gave up his power and walked away.
