The White House

This picture shows the White House during the time Mr. Hoover was president. It is located in Washington, D. C. and where many world leaders come to meet with our president. The president's family lives on the second floor. Originally the house was called The President's Palace and then The President's House. After the War of 1812 the house was remodeled and painted white to cover scars from the war. Since then it's been called the White House.

Mrs. Hoover made the first inventory, listing all the furnishings of the White House. She also was responsible for restoring the Monroe Room. Mrs. Hoover was an excellent hostess because of her world travels and the Hoovers gave many elegant parties in the White House as was expected of the First Lady and the President.
