One of the Sons

When the Hoover family traveled by ship the boys were quite small. The picture shows how the boys needed room to run and play. Don't you think it was wise of the Hoovers to have a harness that would prevent either boy from falling overboard into the deep ocean?

After doing much traveling, and living in such places as London both of the Hoover boys attended college at Stanford University in California just as their parents had done.

Herbert Hoover, Jr., the oldest son, was an engineer when he grew up and helped develop new electronic instruments to find oil. He was also a diplomat and served as an under-secretary of state during the 1950s. He died in 1969.

Allan Hoover majored in economics and became a banker and also had a ranch in California. Later he became a mining engineer, too. He died in 1993.
