An exhibit highlighting our state's features - history, land, weather, animals, people and places of interest!
An Old Fashioned Independence Day
July 4th, 2009
Period music performed by the Marengo Civil War Band and a dramatic performance by Lance Mack as Abraham Lincoln. Marengo Civil War band will perform at 1:30 and will be followed by a single performance of "Abraham Lincoln". The entire program will last a little over an hour and then by followed by a second performance of the Marengo Civil War Band. Lincoln will only perform one time but will pose with visitors for photographs. Free admission to this program; however regular admission fees will be in effect if you wish to see the exhibits.
Free Admission Nights
Every Wednesday night in July and August beginning on July 8th
The Museum will be open until 8:00 pm on Wednesday evenings in July and August with free admission beginning at 5:00 pm. "Iowa: An American Portrait" an award winning documentary film done in 1996 will be shown at 5:30 pm and again at 6:30 pm in the auditorium; the show runs 60 minutes. The museum galleries will close at 8 pm.
The Moving Wall
July 30 - August 2, 2009
"The Moving Wall" is the half-size replica of the Washington, DC Vietnam Veterans Memorial and has been touring the country for more than twenty years. There is no charge to view "The Moving Wall" - official viewing hours of the Moving Wall are July 30 at 2:00 pm - August 2 at 2:00 pm.
