Other embroidered symbols can be divided into three categories: 1) Supernatural Creatures such as the phoenix (renewal of life, immortality) or sea beasts (wealth, longevity); 2) Decorative Motifs such as a round disk with a center hole (heaven, the sun) or mountains (protection, earth, life); and 3) Religious Emblems of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism - symbols such as the pearl (philosopher's stone), chakra or wheel (reincarnation), the lotus (purity), or endless knot (longevity).
